Do saltwater pools require maintenance?
Yes. A saltwater pool is a chlorine pool — the chlorinator simply generates the chlorine from salt instead of you adding it. Salt level, pH, stabiliser, cell condition and filtration all still have to be managed.
Salt levels and water balance
Salt is consumed only by dilution — rain, backwashing, splash-out and top-ups — so levels drift down over a season and the cell output drops with them. pH tends to rise on salt pools and needs correcting regularly.

Salt cell cleaning and replacement
Scale on the electrolysis cell plates is the most common reason a salt pool stops sanitising properly. Cells are cleaned to remove calcium build-up and replaced when the plates are worn out — typically after several seasons, sooner on hard water.
Chlorinator and controller repair
Controller errors, low-output alarms, false salt readings and dead units are diagnosed at the plant room. Where a chlorine dosing system is being converted to salt, we size and install the cell and controller for the pool volume.
Cleaning and maintaining a salt pool
Day-to-day care is the same as any pool: skim, brush, vacuum, clean baskets and manage the filter. That is covered by our pool cleaning and recurring pool maintenance services, with the salt checks built into each visit.
